In that little town
Of all lonely kins
Who said the road behind the woods
Had led the men to horrid dreams.
Reaching down the rocks
She knew she was ending
A step more after every
She could find her horizon.
And every aisle she formed
With her little eyes wide open
She was willing to walk through
And reach the end that started.
And everytime she tripped
Down the small steep
She knew she wasn’t ever
Turning back to home again.
Enormous, eternal the road
Stretched beyond her reach
And every step she left uncounted
Traced the path she paved.
How badly had they crossed
Their limits for all humanity
Shot her happy lovely kins
To breathe into her chastity.
Got herself to the empty road
Which few of them did take
Her human heart, her human mind
Stopped to think again.
Oh!
Out of sight, into the mist
On the dark road, did she fade
All remained to rise alone
Were the footsteps she had left.

In that little town
Of all lonely kins
Who said the road behind the woods
Had led the men to horrid dreams.
